Comparing the confirmation statement
Easy Digital Filing's confirmation statement page says filing costs £68 plus VAT, including the Companies House filing fee. Take off the £50 fee and £18 is left for the service, before VAT. The page does not say how VAT is worked out on the £50 part, so check the total at checkout.
At SimpleFilings the £4.99 service fee covers our work, and the £50 Companies House fee is included in the total, so the total is £54.99. If the company's current 12 month payment period has already been paid, no further £50 is due, and we check this before filing.
Software you use vs a service that files for you
With Easy Digital Filing you file the confirmation statement yourself. Its page says your details are pre-filled from Companies House and you submit from your browser, and that most filings take a few minutes.
With SimpleFilings you answer plain questions and we prepare the statement. We check whether the £50 fee is due and whether each director's personal code has been given, then submit it once you approve it.
Changes found while filing
Easy Digital Filing says you can update SIC codes and the registered email address in its confirmation statement form. It says bigger changes, such as the registered office, shareholders or statement of capital, must be filed on the relevant separate form before the confirmation statement.
At SimpleFilings, SIC code, shareholder and share capital changes can be included with the confirmation statement. Officer, PSC and address changes are separate filings, at £4.99 each.
Identity verification
Companies House will not accept a confirmation statement until all directors have verified their identity. Easy Digital Filing's confirmation statement page did not mention identity verification or personal codes on 6 October 2026.
SimpleFilings does not carry out identity checks or issue personal codes. Directors verify for free through GOV.UK One Login, or through an ACSP, and give us their personal code when we file.
Who each option suits
SimpleFilings suits company owners who want the confirmation statement prepared and checked for them, for £4.99 plus the government fee, with no subscription.
Easy Digital Filing may suit you if you also need to file a Company Tax Return and accounts, or want a managed service that files to both HMRC and Companies House.
When another option may suit you better
- You need a Company Tax Return filed. Easy Digital Filing lists a CT600-only filing at £80 plus VAT. SimpleFilings does not file Company Tax Returns.
- You want software to produce micro-entity iXBRL accounts alongside your Company Tax Return. Easy Digital Filing lists this at £119 plus VAT. SimpleFilings offers qualifying dormant accounts only.
- You want one provider to handle both HMRC and Companies House filings for a micro company. Easy Digital Filing lists a managed filing service at £379 plus VAT.
- You only need the confirmation statement and are happy to do it yourself. Filing it on Companies House WebFiling costs £50, with nothing added.
