If a filing is overdue

Check the company record and any notices first. Prepare the correct filing and leave time for acceptance and corrections. An accounts penalty may already apply; filing does not automatically remove a penalty or stop strike-off action.

Good to know

Accounts and confirmation statements are separate filings

Submitting one does not complete the other. The checker shows the recorded filing deadlines, plus the accounts period end or confirmation statement date where available. A statement date is the date the company details are confirmed up to; it is not the final filing deadline.

Accounts deadlines: dormant companies still file accounts. Newly incorporated companies have different first-account rules.

Confirmation statement deadlines: check the company details, director verification requirements and filing deadline before submitting.

What this checker does and does not show

It retrieves public dates from the Companies House register and shows when they were checked. It does not calculate a missing deadline, decide which accounts your company can file, or access private records. Company names and numbers are used for the public lookup; no authentication code or payment is required.

Dates can change after a filing is accepted or the accounts year end changes, so check again before acting. The lookup does not establish dormancy or micro-entity eligibility.

Corporation Tax payment and Company Tax Return deadlines belong to HMRC and are not shown here. A Companies House accounts deadline cannot establish your tax filing obligations. See the Company Tax Return deadline guide and Corporation Tax payment guide.

How calendar reminders work

“Add to calendar” downloads one file with an all-day event for each recorded deadline, with alerts 14 days and 3 days before it. Your calendar controls whether alerts run. Check the imported date and alerts, and refresh the reminder if the official deadline changes. A calendar download does not sign you up for email or text reminders; use the reminder form above for those.
