Comparing the confirmation statement
Online Filings' confirmation statement page lists a platform fee of £33 plus VAT, which is £39.60 including VAT. It says the £50 Companies House fee is included at checkout. Their page does not say how VAT is worked out on that £50, so we have not added the two together.
At SimpleFilings the £4.99 service fee covers our work, and no VAT is added at checkout. The £50 Companies House fee is included in the total, so the total is £54.99. If the company's current 12 month payment period has already been paid, no further £50 is due, and we check this before filing.
Online Filings says its confirmation statement renews automatically each year, with a reminder 3 days before filing is due, and that you can cancel at any time. SimpleFilings has no renewal: you pay when you file.
Comparing strike off
Online Filings lists its strike-off service from £59.99 plus VAT, which is £71.99 including VAT, with the Companies House fee added at checkout.
GOV.UK lists the Companies House fee for a voluntary strike-off application as £13 online and £18 on paper. At SimpleFilings you pay £4.99 plus the £13 fee, £17.99 in total. Strike off needs the right director approvals, and copies of the application must be sent to interested parties within 7 days. Dissolution follows a notice period; it is not immediate.
Identity verification
Every director must verify their identity with Companies House before a confirmation statement can be filed. Online Filings says it is an ACSP and that directors can request their Companies House personal code from its dashboard, using a photo of their ID and face snapshots. Its pages did not show a separate price for this on 6 October 2026.
SimpleFilings does not carry out identity checks or issue personal codes. Directors verify for free through GOV.UK One Login, or through an ACSP, and give us their personal code. We then file the confirmation statement with it.
What each option includes
Online Filings says it files the confirmation statement electronically and that you usually get an acceptance email in less than 1 hour. Its confirmation statement page lists the information it needs, including registered office, directors, PSCs, SIC codes, statement of capital and shareholders.
SimpleFilings prepares the filing from your answers, checks it and submits it once you approve it. Officer, PSC and address changes are separate filings at £4.99 each. Dormant accounts, director appointments and removals cost £4.99, with no Companies House fee.
Who each option suits
SimpleFilings suits company owners who want to pay a small fee only when they file, with no renewal to cancel, and who verify their identity themselves.
Online Filings may suit you if you want an ACSP to help with identity verification in the same account, or prefer a yearly confirmation statement that renews automatically with a reminder.
When another option may suit you better
- You want identity verification and filing in one place. Online Filings says it is an ACSP and that directors can get their personal code through its dashboard. SimpleFilings does not carry out identity checks.
- You want your confirmation statement set up to renew automatically each year with a reminder. Online Filings offers this. SimpleFilings is pay per filing, with no renewal.
- You want a filing done yourself for only the government fee. Filing the confirmation statement on Companies House WebFiling costs £50, with nothing added.
