About this filing
PSC identity verification at Companies House has two parts.
First, the person with significant control verifies their identity and gets a personal code. Second, that code is linked to their PSC role on the company register.
Our service handles the second part. You tell us which PSC it is, give us their personal code and details, and we check their 14 day window before you approve the submission.
If the person is also a director, their PSC role still needs its own submission.
PSC deadline extensions and protected details
If you cannot provide your PSC verification details on time, request a 14-day extension through Companies House before your deadline passes. Extension handling is outside this SimpleFilings service.
The standard route cannot be used when the PSC’s personal information is protected or a protection application is awaiting a decision. Use Companies House’s appropriate secure route instead.

PSC identity verification: what our service does
A person with significant control is usually someone who holds more than 25% of the shares or voting rights, can appoint or remove a majority of the directors, or otherwise has significant influence or control over the company.
Each individual PSC must verify their identity and then provide their Companies House personal code. Companies House runs a separate service for this called 'Provide identity verification details for a PSC'. Verifying alone is not enough. Until the code is linked to the PSC role, that part of the requirement is not done.
Our service is only for individual PSCs who are already on the register. It is not the identity check itself, and it does not add a new PSC. To register someone new, use the separate PSC01 filing first.
When is the PSC personal code deadline?
Every PSC has a 14 day period to provide their personal code. Which 14 days applies depends on two things: whether they were on the Companies House register before 18 November 2025, and whether they are also a director of the same company.
You can check the dates of a PSC's 14 day period on the Companies House register. We check the window again before you approve, so the details go in at the right time.
- Existing PSC who is not a director: provide the code within the first 14 days of their birth month. Someone born on 22 January has a window starting on 1 January.
- Existing PSC who is also a director: provide the code for the PSC role within 14 days, starting from the day after the company's confirmation statement date.
- Filing the confirmation statement early does not move that director-PSC window. The dates stay the same.
- New PSC added after 18 November 2025: provide the code when they are first added to the register, or within 14 days of being added.
- A PSC who has died does not need to complete identity verification.
PSC who is also a director: two roles, two submissions
This is the most common mix-up. A person who is both a director and a PSC uses the same personal code, but must provide it separately for each role.
For the director role, the personal code goes in with the company's confirmation statement. For the PSC role, it goes through the PSC verification service. Giving the code on the confirmation statement does not complete the PSC requirement, and the PSC submission does not complete the director requirement.
The timing lines up, but the steps do not merge. The director-PSC window for the PSC role starts the day after the confirmation statement date. It makes sense to plan both together so neither is missed.
What you need before linking a PSC's personal code
- The PSC has already verified their identity, through GOV.UK One Login or an ACSP, and has their Companies House personal code. This is different from the company authentication code.
- The PSC is an individual who is already shown on the company's PSC register at Companies House.
- The actual current Companies House verification window and submission status. No full date of birth or company authentication code is required for this service.
- Whether their name matches the name they used for identity verification. If it does not, a short reason is needed, such as a legal name change or a preferred name.
- Confirmation that you are authorised to act for the company and the PSC on this request.
What happens after you submit the PSC's code
Find the company and choose the PSC. Enter their personal code and confirm their identity-verification and name details in the secure form. We check the actual current verification window, authority and whether a statement has already been supplied or is pending. Protected, deceased, extension, late or uncertain cases need separate review before payment.
You approve the submission before it is sent. The register is only updated when Companies House accepts it. A payment or a submission receipt on its own does not confirm acceptance, so keep a copy and check the outcome.
What if a PSC does not provide verification details?
GOV.UK says that if someone continues to be a PSC after the deadline without complying with all the verification requirements, they may be committing an offence. People who do not comply on time will also be unable to be appointed as a new director of an existing company, or to register a new company or other entity.
This is separate from the wider PSC information rules. Under those rules, a person who does not respond to a company's PSC notice within one calendar month, or who gives false information, commits a criminal offence and could get a 2 year prison sentence, a fine or both. After repeated non-compliance, a company can apply restrictions to that person's shares or voting rights.
If a deadline is close or has passed, act now. Verify first, then provide the personal code as soon as possible. We cannot give legal advice about a missed deadline.
Common PSC verification mistakes to avoid
- Assuming verification is finished once the person has a personal code. The code still has to be linked to the PSC role.
- Assuming the director's code on the confirmation statement covers the PSC role too.
- Mixing up the company authentication code and the personal code.
- Missing a birth-month window because it falls before the person expected.
- Using this route for a company or other legal entity that is a PSC. Verification for officers of corporate PSCs is being introduced later and is a different process.
File it yourself or use SimpleFilings
You can always file directly with Companies House. Here is how that compares with using SimpleFilings.

What this request covers
We check your instructions and submit the filing once it is approved. The register changes only when Companies House accepts it.
Before you start
- For an existing individual PSC only, including an eligible LLP. This links a verified identity to the PSC role; it does not perform the identity check or register a new PSC. Director and PSC roles need separate submissions.
- Before payment and again before filing, the operator checks the exact company and individual, complete current register, actual current government window, any accepted extension and whether a submission is supplied, removed or pending. No birthday or early confirmation-statement filing is used to guess these dates. Missing, late, future, protected, deceased or uncertain cases remain separate review; no automatic extension is assumed.
- The official online service uses the PSC's 11-character personal code and an individual-verified statement, with a name-mismatch reason where applicable. It does not ask for the company authentication code, full birth date, passport, home address or an uploaded document. The operator checks actual PSC authority and approved instructions; customer confirmations do not replace those checks. Government declarations are only made in the actual authorised fulfilment.
- Protected PSCs or pending protection applications use a separate route. Deceased PSCs do not need verification and may remain registered until probate or letters of administration. Corporate PSCs and other registrable persons are outside this individual service. Extensions must be requested before the actual deadline through the appropriate official route.
What is not included
Carrying out an identity check, obtaining an extension or acting as an ACSP is not included.
Fees
£4.99 SimpleFilings service fee. Companies House does not charge a fee for providing a PSC's identity verification details, and verifying through GOV.UK One Login is free. An Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) may charge if you choose to verify through one. Our fee covers one request to link a verified individual's personal code to their existing PSC role. It does not include carrying out the identity check. ONAF Limited is registered with Companies House as an ACSP.

PSC identity verification: common questions
Can I get an extension to my PSC verification deadline?
You can request a 14-day extension through the official Companies House service before your verification deadline has passed. Select Start and sign in to request it. SimpleFilings does not provide an extension-request service; do not assume a saved request or payment extends your deadline.
How do I provide PSC verification details to Companies House?
The PSC verifies their identity first and receives a personal code. The code is then linked to their PSC role using Companies House's 'Provide identity verification details for a PSC' service. You can do this yourself directly, or use our service, where we check the details and 14 day window before you approve the submission.
What is the deadline for a PSC to verify?
Every PSC has a 14 day window to provide their personal code, so they need to verify before it ends. For an existing PSC who is not a director, it is the first 14 days of their birth month. For an existing PSC who is also a director, it starts the day after the company's confirmation statement date. A PSC added after 18 November 2025 can provide it when added or within 14 days. You can check the dates on the Companies House register.
I'm a director and a PSC. Do I need to verify twice?
You verify your identity once and use the same personal code. But you must provide that code separately for each role: on the confirmation statement as a director, and through the PSC verification service as a PSC.
Is there a Companies House fee for PSC identity verification?
No. There is no Companies House fee to provide a PSC's verification details, and verifying through GOV.UK One Login is free. An ACSP may charge for verifying on someone's behalf. Our £4.99 SimpleFilings service fee is for checking and submitting the details.
What happens if a PSC does not verify their identity?
GOV.UK says a person who stays a PSC after the deadline without meeting the verification requirements may be committing an offence. People who do not comply on time also cannot be appointed as a new director of an existing company or register a new company or entity.
Does a company that is a PSC need to verify?
This service is for individual PSCs only. GOV.UK says identity verification for officers of corporate PSCs will be introduced at a later date.
